SLASH : l’album “solista”

Dopo una spasimante attesa è finalmente uscito l’ album solista di Slash.Il titolo scelto è semplicemente Slash ed è, a tutti gli effetti, il primo lavoro solista dell’ex Guns n’Roses. L’album è pieno zeppo di ospiti, infatti inizialmente si doveva intitolare Slash’n'Friends. Ascoltando il disco si ha l’impressione di un lavoro ben bilanciato, tra brani più melodici e di ampio respiro e possenti cavalcate Hard Rock. Veri punti di forza dell’album sono, oltre che all’ eterna chitarra dell’ex Guns n’ Roses, un’eccellente qualità compositiva e soprattutto la splendida performace dei vari cantanti. Ghost, opener del disco, ha come ospite Ian Asbury (The Cult) che ha l’onore di aprire le danze con una rock song melodica. L’Oscuro Guru Ozzy Osbourne ci regala la sua voce in Crucify The Dead, brano arricchito dagli ottimi solo del chitarrista. La tanta attesa Fergie, degli amati/odiati Black eyes Peas, ci toglie ogni dubbio sulle sua qualità canore,  rendendo Beautiful Dangerous un ottimo brano Rock/Pop. Myles Kennedy canta in ben due canzoni e cioè in Starlight e Back from Cali. Entrambi si distinguono per buone aperture melodiche ed ottimi refrain. Starlight spicca anche per il lavoro solista del chitarrista. Uno dei più belli e riusciti brani dell’album porta il nome di Promise, ed è interpretato da un  Chris Cornell in stato di grazia. La canzone, è un esempio di quanto un grande cantante possa fare la differenza. Tutto l’album mantiene sempre un’altissima qualità e, merito anche la varietà dei brani, non stanca mai. Si va da brani lenti e melodici come Gotten (con Adam Levine), o Saint Is A Sinner Too (con Rocco de Luca) a vere proprie iniezioni di adrenalina come Doctor Alibi, splendido incrocio tra Guns n’ Roses e Mothoread, cantata dal sempre verde Lemmy Kilmister. Slash trova anche il posto per inserire un brano strumentale (Watch This Dave)  in cui sfoggia tutto il suo feeling. Se masticate pane e metal allora non potete fare a meno di Nothing To Say con Matthew Shadows alla voce. Ottimo tiro e bellissimo ritornello. Altra perla è We’re All Gonna Die (Iggy Pop/Ron Wood), buon riff, bel refrain e ottimi solo. Da segnalare che in Giappone, in anticipo all’uscita dell’album, è uscita un’ottima cover di Paradise city (cypress hill, fergie, chris chaney, josh freese) che non mancherà di alimentare polemiche. In definitiva, il primo album solista del riccioluto chitarrista, si rivela uno splendido lavoro, curato nei minimi dettagli e ricco di ottime canzoni. Forse non troverete la nuova Sweet child o’ mine ma Slash rimane un grande esempio di vero Rock.

After an agonizing wait is finally out of the ’solo album Slash.Il title chosen is simply Slash and is, in effect, the first solo work of former Guns N’ Roses. The album is chock full of guests, it was initially titled Slash’n'Friends. Listening to disc one has the impression of a job well balanced between songs more melodic and far-reaching and powerful rides Hard Rock. Real strengths of the album are not only to ‘eternal guitar former Guns n’ Roses, excellent quality and compositional especially the splendid performace of various singers. Ghost, the disc opener, has a guest Ian Asbury (The Cult) who has the honor of opening the ball with a melodic rock song. The Dark Ozzy Osbourne Guru gives us his voice Crucify The Dead, a song only enriched by the excellent guitarist. The most awaited Fergie, of the beloved / hated Black Eyes Peas, takes away all doubt about his vocal quality, making a great Dangerous Beautiful piece Rock / Pop. Myles Kennedy sings in two songs well and that is Starlight and Back from Cali. Both stand for good openings and excellent melodic refrain. Starlight stands for the solo guitarist. One of the most beautiful and successful songs of the album is called Promise, and is played by Chris Cornell in a state of grace. The song is an example of what a great singer can make a difference. Entire album keeps high quality, and on the variety of songs, never tires. They range from slow and melodic tracks like Gotten (Adam Levine), or Saint Is A Sinner Too (with Rocco de Luca) to its true injections of adrenaline as Doctor Alibi, wonderful cross between Guns n ‘Roses and Mothoread, sung by the ever Green Lemmy. Slash is also the place to insert an instrumental track (Watch This Dave) it displays all his feeling. If chewed bread and metal then you can not help but Nothing To Say and M. Shadows vocals. Excellent shot and beautiful chorus. Another gem is We’re All Gonna Die (Iggy Pop / Ron Wood), good riffs, nice and great refrain only. Be noted that Japan, early exit of the album, came out excellent cover of Paradise City (cypress hill, fergie, Chris Chaney, Josh Freese) which is bound to fuel controversy. Ultimately, the curly-haired guitarist’s first solo album, proves a splendid work, attention to detail and full of great songs. Maybe you will not find the new Sweet child o ‘mine but Slash is a great example of true Rock.
