La mania di costumizzare qualsiasi cosa con le borchie è ormai vecchia, almeno negli Stati Uniti, dove già nel 2008-2009 spopolavano le customizzazioni della boutique newyorchese  Bess. L'idea di primo acchitto risultò geniale: rinnovare vecchi capi, regalando loro un'aura decisamente cool e vagamente glam rock. Certo i prezzi praticati da Bess non erano popolari. E infatti ci è voluto nulla a capire che ci si poteva ingegnare un poco da sè per ottenere gli stessi risultati, totalmente handmade.
Oggi, nel 2013, i negozi e le boutique che offrono il servizio di customizzazione di abiti e scarpe con le borchie non si contano più, specie nelle grandi città. Ma ancora più numerosi sono i tutorial fai-da-te in giro per il web, che spiegano come ottenere i medesimi effetti  armandosi di qualche attrezzo tecnico e di un po' di abilità manuale. Quando un trend invade massivamente (e non più solo in maniera saltuaria) anche le collezioni dei marchi low cost è segno che si è veramente affermato. In larga scala e in maniera decisamente solidissima. E' quello che è accaduto con le borchie. Tutte impazziamo per le borchie. Vorremmo sfoggiarle in tutte le declinazioni, e spesso lo facciamo perchè le troviamo ovunque e senza spendere fortune. L'unico interrogativo possibile a questo punto è: quando ci stancheremo di queste borchie?
