Sunday afternoon @ Le Labo London

ITALa scorsa settimana è stata piuttosto dura e difficile per me - meno male che ieri ho potuto finalmente frequentare il mio attesissimo workshop a Le Labo London, un posto fantastico che si trova al 28 di Devonshire Street, nella zona di Marylebone. Erano mesi che avevo prenotato, e lo aspettavo davvero con quell'ansia mista a impazienza che si prova di fronte a tutte le cose belle. Le Labo - con una sede a Grasse, una a New York e una qui nella City of London - non è un semplice negozio, bensì un esperimento. Appassionati di fragranze ad altissimi livelli, che uniscono la loro arte e le loro conoscenze per creare fragranze uniche, semplici e complesse allo stesso tempo. Materie prime di ottima qualità, una linea elegante e pulita, fragranze create su misura e consegnate con il tuo nome sopra, un ambiente caldo ed essenziale allo stesso tempo: Le Labo è tutto questo e molto di più, poter visitare uno dei loro studi è un'esperienza unica. Il loro desiderio è quello di creare una profumeria d'elite, che si discosti da quella spesso sommaria e di qualità discutibile che propongono i grandi brand, ma che sia allo stesso tempo un'esperienza accessibile a tutti. Ottimo, direi!Il workshop di ieri - tenuto da un bravissimo artista e creativo di origini italiane, Nicola Pozzani - è stato una delle esperienze più pazzesche della mia vita. Tutto giocato sulla stretta correlazione tra profumi, odori e vista, ci ha permesso di esplorare connessioni finora sconosciute, esprimendo noi stessi e parte delle nostre emozioni nascoste, conoscendo più  a fondo il mondo delle fragranze. Il gruppo, composto da altre cinque persone oltre a me, era molto eterogeneo - si andava da un broker russo a una designer di scarpe! - ma è proprio questo il bello di queste occasioni: riunire persone molto diverse tra loro, ma accomunate dalla stessa passione. Alla fine della lezione, ci è stato fatto un bellissimo regalo: un discovery set personalizzato di Le Labo con tre fragranze a nostra scelta. Non è stato affatto facile decidersi, ma alla fine ho optato per queste: Rose 31, Labdanum 18 e Fleur D'Oranger 27 (il mio preferito in assoluto!). Rose 31, costruito attorno alla leggendaria rosa centifoglia di Grasse, è "un profumo alla rosa per uomini", come dicono i creatori: in effetti, è molto meno dolce e delicato dei classici alla rosa, grazie all'azzeccato mix con note legnose e ambra. Fleur D'Oranger 27, uno dei best-seller, è una riuscitissima fragranza agrumata, con una base di rari fiori d'arancio e un contorno di bergamotto, limone e petit grain - mi fa immediatamente pensare ai primi pomeriggi di giugno. Labdanum 18, il più particolare, è un piccolo mistero in bottiglia: un insieme di note animali come il castoreo e la civetta, riesce comunque a rimanere molto leggero e gradevole - solitamente, non amo molto le note animali, ma con questa fragranza mi sono dovuta ricredere! Tutti i profumi di Le Labo sono unisex, da scegliere solo in base al proprio gusto personale. Insomma, un'esperienza davvero meravigliosa, assolutamente da provare!ENGLast week has been pretty rocky and difficult for me - thank god yesterday afternoon I've finally attended the workshop at Le Labo London that I've longed waited for. Le Labo is an amazing place set at 28 Devonshire Street, in the Marylebone area. I booked for that months ago, and I was waiting for it with this strange feeling, something in between anxiety and impatience which you always feel when you're facing beautiful things. Le Labo, which also owns shops in Grasse and New York in addition to the one here in the City of London, is not a simple retail store: is a living experiment. The highest level artists passionated in fragrances who share their skills and knowledges to create unique perfumes, simple and built up at the same time. First-class raw materials, a classy and neat collection, fragrances created on demand and delivered with your own name on it, a cosy but basic environment: Le Labo is all that and even more, visiting one of its laboratory is an unique experience. Their wish is to create a high-class perfumery, which takes distance from the rough and low-quality products proposed by the high street brands, but which is at the same time affordable by everyone. Well done!The workshop that I've attended yesterday, managed by an amazing artist and creative who was born in Italy, Nicola Pozzani, has been one of the most challenging experience of my entire life. All built along the strictly connection between scents, smells and the sense of sight, allowed us to explore connections so far unknown, helping us to express ourselves and a part of our hidden emotions, knowing in a deeper way the world of scents. The class, composed by other five persons besides me, was really heterogeneous - a Russian broker and an Australian shoe designer, just for give an example - but this is the best thing of this situations: mixing up very different people, but who share the same passion. At the end of the lesson, they gave us a beautiful gift: a Le Labo personalized discovery set, which contained three fragrances of our choice. Picking up the right ones wasn't easy at all, but I've ended up with these: Rose 31, Labdanum 18 and Fleur D'Oranger 27 (my favourite one!).Rose 31, all built on the legendary Grasse centifolia rose, is "a roses perfume for men!", as the creators say: in fact, it's far less delicate and sweet than the usual rose scents, thanks to the well-built mix between woody notes and amber. Fleur D'Oranger 27, one of their best-seller, is a highly successful citrus fragrance, with a base of rare orange blossoms and a boundary of bergamot, lemon and petit grain - it immediately reminded me of early June afternoons. Labdanum 18, the most peculiar, is a little mistery held in a bottle: a mixture of animal notes such as castoreum and civet, it still remains slightly light and pleasant - normally, I don't actually like animal perfumes, but with this fragrance I had to retrace my steps. All the scents created by Le Labo are unisex, you have to choose them just following your personal taste. In short, a really wondrous experience, a must try!
