The Black Heart Procession - 2 (1999)

(ITA) La processione funebre del duo californiano raggiunge in questo secondo album uno dei suoi picchi poetici. Jenkins e Nathaniel si dimostrano i più degni eredi del rock decadente di Nick Cave, componendo tristi ballate per piano e chitarra che accompagnano storie di distanza e solitudine. Il disco rimane in equilibrio tra il folk più tradizionale (come in Blue tears, arricchita da una fisarmonica strappalacrime) e il minimalismo dello slowcore (The waiter no. 2), senza mai eccedere negli arrangiamenti.

(ENG) The funeral procession of the Californian duo reaches in this second album one of its poetic peaks. Jenkins and Nathaniel prove theirselves as the most worthy heirs of the Nick Cave's decadent rock, composing sad ballads for piano and guitar to accompany stories about distance and solitude. The album remains in equilibrium between traditional folk (as in Blue Tears, enriched by a tearjerker accordion) and the minimalism of slowcore (The waiter no. 2), without exceeding in the arrangements.
