The Italian version of the proverb You can not have your cake and eat it: non si può avere la botte piena e la moglie ubriaca.

Maybe the consumerism era has made us more unstable and demanding. Come on! Let's admit our guilt!  We want that our life could be  easy and without too much efforts to get what we want. We all know that it doesn’t  works exactly like that, at least in the real world of adults.
Maybe we can accept this behaviour from the children, but - ladies and gentlemen -  we have to achieve the big and small results with effort in our life. There is no chance! These  results will give us a greater satisfaction!
There is a proverb that well represents this current society , where we want all in an easy way: in Italy we say “non si può avere la botte piena e la moglie ubriaca”. In English is  “You can not have your cake and eat it”.
How you can have the two things together? We all agree that it is impossible. The contradictions are great causes of the crisis of the values . Maybe it is better to achieve  slowly what we want and we have to struggle a bit to be more satisfied of the results... otherwise what's the point?
Probabilmente l’età del consumismo ci ha resi un po’ tutti più volubili ed esigenti. Dai ammettiamolo ci piace avere la vita facile e senza troppi sforzi ottenere quello che vogliamo. Sappiamo bene tutti che funziona esattamente così, non nel mondo reale degli adulti. Può ancora passare quando siamo bambini,  ma miei cari signorie  signore i grandi  e i piccoli risultati bisogna guadagnarseli nella vita. Daranno anche maggiore soddisfazione in questo modo! C’è un detto italiano che ben rappresenta questa società del volere tutto in modo facile : in Italia si dice “ non puoi avere la botte piena e la moglie ubriaca”. In inglese il proverbio è “you cannot have your cake and eat it”. Come si fa ad avere in contemporanea la moglie ubriaca e la botte piena? Siamo tutti d’accordo che siamo due cose impossibili. Le contraddizioni sono grandi moventi di crisi dei valori e quindi forse una cosa alla volta è meglio e ottenuta con un po’ di lavoro o fatica …altrimenti che gusto c’è?
