Urban fashion styles

La moda urban è diventata sempre più popolare parallelamente al diffondersi della musica hip-hop. Ma dalla sua nascita, alla fine degli anni '70, fino ai giorni nostri, lo stile urban è rimasto il modo più seguito dai i giovani di interpretare le tendenze della moda dettate dal fashion system.
Le fonti
 Lo stile urban è molto attento all'originalità ed alle novità ed il più delle volte i seguaci di questa tendenza fanno riferimento a piccoli designer emergenti, che di solito sono a contatto con la comunità hip-hop e la sua moda, i quali spesso arrivano alla ribalta all'imprvviso e solo grazie al passaparola. La maggior parte dei capi di abbigliamento che indossa che sege lo stile urban proviene da designer indipendenti che producono da soli i propri prodotti, anche se poi vengono mescolati con pezzi mainstream.
Le grandi etichette 
Anche se molti dei pezzi più di moda nello stile urban proviene da piccoli designer, molte delle etichette più grandi ha capito la portata di questa tendenza e cerca di inserirsi nel mercato .  Tommy Hilfiger ad esempio è un brand famoso per il suo appeal casual chic, ma è anche piuttosto conosciuto nel mondo hip -hop . Questo grazie al fatto che Hilfiger è stata una delle prime etichette di grandi dimensioni ad essersi accostato al mondo urban e street: lo stesso SnoopDogg è stao suo testimonial .
La moda
 I vestiti che fanno parte dello stile urban sono insoliti in altre circostanze. Questo tipo di abbigliamento è caratterizzato da capi larghi e comodi di ispirazione sportiva che vengono mescolati con pezzi più minimalisti ed eleganti spesso di grandi marchi. Le scarpe costose sono un altro elemento importante della moda urban, così come le felpe sportive .
Urban fashion has become more popular as hip-hop music has grown and spread. Though many trends exist, some elements remain consistent across the various styles. From its rise all the way back in the '70s to modern day, urban fashion remains a popular way for young people to follow fashion trends. 
Clothing Sources
Most of the time it's the smaller designers as opposed to the bigger labels that are in touch with the hip-hop community and its fashion. Most of the clothing they wear comes from independent designers who make their own productss, most of the time as a hobby, seldom as a full-time profession.
Big Labels
Even though most of the cutting edge fashion comes from the smaller hip-hop designers, the bigger labels are trying to cash in on the market. Tommy Hilfiger is one example of a designer who is world-famous but also still fashionable in the hip-hop world. This is attributed to the fact that Hilfiger was one of the first large labels to cater to the hip-hop world. It is also partly due to one Snoop Dogg performance on "Saturday Night Live" in which he was clothed in only Tommy Hilfiger clothing. 
The Fashion Itself
The clothes that make up urban fashion are unusual in other circumstances. It is characterized by baggy pants and leggings more than almost anything else, a particularly controversial element of urban fashion that has been banned in some areas. Expensive shoes are another important element of urban fashion, as are sports jerseys.
