hatsApp has recently released a very useful feature for iPhone users, called Starred Messages. This enables users to quickly access bookmarked messages including images, videos, or other content. And now it this feature is available to Android users, as well, but it hasn't made its way on Google Play.
In order to get this feature on your Android smartphone, you will have to download the latest version of WhatsApp (v2.12.339) for Android from the official website. The new feature is yet to make its way to the app available on Google Play but we can expect the company to rollout the latest update to Google Play in the near future.
The new Starred Messages bookmarking feature can be used by tapping and holding a message which would then be saved in a separate new Starred Messages tab. Thus, once a message has been starred, you will be able to see the star icon next to the message. The new star icon will appear in the app's toolbar, next to the delete and copy icons. If you want to remove the message from the starred list, you just simply tap it and hold it again, then select the crossed star icon that appears.
WhatsApp does have a search function, but when you really want to make sure a certain message doesn't get lost or you want to get back to it, then that's when this new feature really becomes useful. Thus, by starring a certain message, you will be able to easily find that particular message. It really makes you wonder why did it take them so long to release it, and even now, it's still in beta.
Another recent feature that was released for iPhone users was to reply via the notification center. So once the one we're talking about now will have made its way to all Android users, then perhaps the quick reply option will be next.
