Talento non è semplicemente avere capacità in qualcosa, talento significa genialità, una genialità innata, un dono che ti travolge senza sapere il perché. Il talento fa male, ferisce, l’unico pensiero è la creazione o peggio un’estenuante mania per la perfezione. Il segreto è saperla dominare, è trasformarla in energia. Mari Fujiwara parte dalle sue illustrazioni per arrivare alla manipolazione del tessuto.

Sceglie la tecnica della marmorizzazione, una decorazione cromatica usata in genere sulla carta per riprodurre le chiazze di colore tipiche delle superfici marmoree. Ricama i tessuti, li incolla e li plissetta, creando pieghe elaborate che si susseguono lungo gli abiti. La mano accarezza la stoffa, mentre la creatività di Mari unisce scultura, design e artigianato. Tutto è delicato, tutto è etereo come sospeso in un mondo astratto, ma reale.
