Sembra ieri quando Alexander esordì alla sfilata di fine anno della Saint Martin's School of Art di Londra, presentando i suoi primi capolavori, acquistati subito dopo dalla sua mentore Isabella Blow, la quale riconobbe il genio del suo estro. Da allora, questo formidabile talento riuscì a dimostrare al mondo intero come è possibile coniugare moda e sogno romantico, abiti e forme surreali, indossabile ed impensabile.
Mc Queen divenne il Dalì della moda...il Lord Byron contemporaneo! I suoi abiti come sculture futuriste o quadri surreali non sono catalogabili in una tendenza anche se traggono ispirazioni da molteplici fonti e passioni dello stilista. Egli amava ispirarsi alla natura selvaggia e le forme organiche, all'arte e all'architettura.... Era un poeta dei colori e dei tessuti. Riusciva a creare dei sentimenti attraverso ambientazioni e mood onirici. Curioso e sognatore come pochi, e come pochi nel suo genere, presente in uno dei più grandi e famosi musei al mondo... il Metropolitan Museum di New York!!! Dal 4 maggio al 31 luglio 2011, sarà in scena "SAVAGE BEAUTY" l’esposizione dei suoi abiti cult, dalla prima all'ultima sua collezione chiamata "Angeli e Demoni". L'Inghilterra acquista una fama importante nell'ambiente della moda grazie ad artisti di questo calibro e lo stile che hanno creato, in perfetto equilibrio tra romanticismo e ribellione! Gli abiti che vedrete di seguito sono una selezione fatta su 100 modelli. Tra questi le giacche a kimono e i drappeggi in stile giapponese, le piume e gli abiti ispirati alla fauna e alla flora.
