Udite Udite!...Da oggi on line "LEVI'S VINTAGE CLOTHING", il sito che ripercorre la storia di uno dei più famosi label del denim... un marchio che da oltre un secolo ha vestito il mondo intero con i suoi storici modelli in tela di cotone resistente dall'inconfondibile colore blu indigo.Come ci racconta il direttore marketing Arturo Carrero: "Il sito ci permette di mostrare e spiegare i nostri prodotti nei dettagli. Di condividere i nostri archivi. E anche di illustrare la distribuzione del brand, che è molto selezionata".E' così che in poche pagine ben studiate vengono presentati gli otto modelli a partire dallo storico 501 del 1890, fino ad arrivare al jean del 1966 con tutte le modifiche apportate nel corso dei decenni in base ai cambiamenti della società e alle esigenze storiche...I denim sono esposti e spiegati in ogni piccolo ma importante dettaglio, dal rivetto all'avvento della bandierina rossa con la scritta LEVI'S ricamata in bianco.Il tutto è contornato da un archivio di bellissime foto storiche in bianco e nero e illustrate, che raccontano dei lavoratori dell'America di fine '800 e del loro classico abbigliamento composto da camicia jeans!Sotto vi presento solo un assaggio di quello che offre il sito che invito tutti a vedere e studiare!
"When a customer's wife asked for a pair of pants that wouldn't fall apart, Davis made some trousers out of white cotton duck with metal rivets in the pocket corners for extra strength. They were soon the talk of Reno and, realizing he had a great idea on his hands, he decided to patent his new product. However, he needed a business partner to do it. So he went to the one man he thought could help him bring his product to life and to the market place: his fabric supplier, Levi Strauss, now a prosperous merchant and philanthropist"

"The two men struck a deal and on May 20, 1873, they received a U.S. patent for the first blue jeans.These first jeans - called waist overalls or just overalls - were made of 9 oz. blue denim which came from the Amoskeag Mill, in Manchester, New Hampshire, renowned for the quality of it's fabrics.Sewn in San Francisco at a factory in the industrial section south of Market Street, sold by the small retailers of the West, the pants were a new breed of workwear and became the template for the brands which appeared when the patent expired in 1890."....

..."They featured a cinch and buckle which, along with suspender buttons, kept the pants in place no matter what kind of rough work their owner was doing. Within a few years of receiving the patent Levi Strauss & Co. was making riveted coats, bib overalls, vests and non-denim pants, in addition to the waist overalls, providing working men the clothing that made them equal to life in the harsh conditions of the American West."

501 STORY FROM 1890 TO 1966

1890 modello 501.... the first!

1890.... e la sua prima etichetta che troviamo ancora oggi in tutti i modelli.

il cartellino in cartoncino applicato nella tasca posteriore.... un classico dal 1944

l'inconfondibile ricamo arcato delle tasche posteriori... può cambiare il colore del filato ma il disegno rimane quello, autentico e loro!

bottone a chiodo logotipato per chiudere la cintura e la patta del centro davanti. Nei primi modelli venivano applicati anche intorno alla cintura per poterci agganciare le bretelle. Nel 1954 invece, vengono sostituiti per creare la prima chiusura con zip metallica.

rivetti in metallo con logo.... ridotti nel 1944 a causa della guerra e del bisogno di ferro da parte delle industrie belliche

nel risvolto del fondo possiamo ammirare la cimosa della tela di denim... oggi questo motivo è stato ripreso da diversi brand del denim come motivo di forte tendenza, proposta in diversi colori e dimensioni.
