Mazzy Star - So Tonight That I Might See (1993)

(ITA) Hope Sandoval diventa una cantante matura, “una creatura fuori dall’ordinario, mesmerica ed ammaliatrice oltre ogni umana immaginazione (Claudio Fabretti)”; Roback scrive musiche perfette, riuscendo a dosare in egual misura psichedelia velvettiana e folk-pop; e nell’epoca in cui il grunge è diventato un fenomeno commerciale che monopolizza le radio, i Mazzy Star sfornano il loro capolavoro. Trascinato dalla ballata mozzafiato Fade into you, quest’album incanta con ninnananne folk (Bells ring), cupe litanie (Mary of silence) ed ipnotici mantra (Into dust); ancora una volta Roback espone la propria conoscenza di rock psichedelico nella title-track, che è ciò che avrebbero suonato i Doors negli anni ‘90 se fossero ancora esistiti.

Carried away by the breathtaking ballad Fade Into You, this album enchants with folk lullabies (Bells ring), dark litanies (Mary of silence) and hypnotic mantras (Into dust); Roback exposes again his knowledge of psychedelic rock in the title-track, which is what the Doors would play in the '90s if they still existed.
