St. John ha creato enormi database per tracciare il flusso di denaro e l’indice di rischio, e ha poi convertito i dati in applicazioni web che ha messo a disposizione dei cittadini.Laureata in Scienze della Comunicazione di Massa all’Università dell’Illinois nel 1986, è reporter investigativa da oltre trent’anni. Ha lavorato per Gannett News, The Detroit News e come corrispondente per l’Associated Press.
Oltre al premio Pulitzer nel 2011, la St. John ha ricevuto numerosi riconoscimenti tra cui il William Brewster Styles Award di Scripps Howard, il National Headliner Award, il Clarion Award, tre Green Eyeshade awards e il Waldo Proffitt Award per l'Eccellenza nel Giornalismo Ambientale.
Paige continua la tradizione di un giornalismo poliedrico: è specializzata in progetti basati su database, grafici e siti web, scrittura narrativa e giornalismo investigativo. Progetti premiati in passato hanno esposto il fallimento della Florida nel proteggere spiagge sensibili dal punto di vista ambientale, il fallimento dei legislatori federali e dei produttori di dispositivi medici a proteggere vite umane, e la frode istituzionalizzata nei sistemi di iscrizione all'università.
Paige sarà presente anche all'edizione di quest'anno del Festival del Giornalismo di Perugia.

Tonight we'll have the pleasure of interviewing a well known American investigative journalist, famous for winning the Pulitzer Prize, Paige St. John.
Paige won the 2011 Pulitzer for investigative journalism thanks to the series of articles "Florida's Insurance Nightmare", published by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and result of two years of work on the house insurances in the State of Florida. St. John has created huge databases to track the flux of money and the risk index, and has then converted the data in web apps that she made available to citizens.
With a degree in Mass Communication Sciences at the Illinois University (1986), she has been an investigative reporter for more than 30 years. She has worked for Gannett News, The Detroit News and also as a correspondent for the Associated Press.
Apart from the Pulitzer prize in 2011, St. John has received many awards, among which the William Brewster Styles Award, the National Headliner Award, the Clarion Award, three Green Eyeshade awards and the Waldo Proffitt Award for Environmental Journalism Eccelence.
A product of what was once the nation's smallest accredited journalism program (Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville), St. John continues the school's tradition of multi-faceted journalism. She specializes in database-driven projects, graphics and web sites, narrative writing and investigative journalism. Past awardwinning projects have exposed Florida's failure to protect environmentally sensitive beaches from rampant development, failure of federal regulators and medical device manufacturers to protect human lives, and institutionalized fraud within university enrollment systems.
Paige will also be present at this year's edition of the International Journalism Festival.
