On a Friday morning, the Boyfriend usually gets up with a watering mouth as he knows that he will soon be enjoying his special “Friday treat”: the bacon butty.

Il venerdi’ il Boyfriend si sveglia con l’acquolina in bocca, gia’ pregustando il bacon butty che si pappera’ per colazione. E’ il suo Vizietto del Venerdi’, un rito irrinunciabile

The “bacon butty” or simply “bacon sandwich” is a true British status symbol, as it belongs to the category of those famous “all day meals" (those very energetic breakfasts that should keep one going for a long time).

Il bacon butty o piu’ semplicemente bacon sandwich e’ uno status symbol britannico, appartenendo alla categoria dei famosi British “all-day” (ovvero quelle supercolazioni sostanziose chedovrebbero darci la carica per un bel po’).

In fact, it basically consists in two slices of buttered bread filled with (a lot of) bacon. The greasier the better, especially in the look. It HAS to be served on very greasy spoons.

Di fatto altro non e’ che un molto spartano panino alla pancetta. Piu’ “greasy” (unto) e’, meglio e’. Soprattutto nell’aspetto. E’ indispensabile che venga servito su un bel piattone unto, con tanta pancetta strabordante.

British people proudly say it is the best cure to hangovers. The doctors think it can increase the risk of heart diseases. But one lives only once, right?

I Britannici sostengono fieri che si tratti della cura migliore nel post- sbornia. I medici sostengono che aumenti le probabilita’ di infarto. Ma si vive una volta sola, no?

Some cheddar or other type of cheese can be added and if one wants to make it look a bit healthier, there's always the chance to put some salad in it, or "grass" as the Boyfriend calls it.
Ci si puo' aggiungere del formaggio Cheddar o di altro tipo e se proprio lo si vuole far sembrare quasi "salutistico" ci si puo' sempre aggiungere un po' di insalata o "erba" , come la chiama il Boyfriend.
