In occasione della fashion week milanese, dedicata stavolta all'uomo,ha aperto nel cuore della città meneghina, in Piazza Duomo, la Preppy House di Tommy Hilfiger. Si tratta di un temporary store, che potrete ammirare fino a domani, 25 Giugno 2011, e che è rappresentato da un tradizionale cottage della costa orientale degli USA dai tipici colori bianco e blu, dove al suo interno potrete visionare la capsule collection preppy uomo e donna PE 2011.Il termine “Preppy” è nato in America negli anni ’50, dove veniva utilizzato per descrivere i giovani che frequentavano i college privati e che dunque indossavano la divisa; lo stile Preppy, quindi, è diventato sinonimo dello stile tipico di quelle uniformi, caratterizzate da strisce, stampe scozzesi, camicie Oxford, chinos, blazer, cravatte e stemmi.Il temporary store, che ha le sembianze di una casa sulla spiaggia di East Hampton, ha già aperto i battenti a Londra, Parigi e New York.Il Preppy Style invade anche 10 Corso Como, dove è previsto un corner dedicato alla limited edition di calzature nata dalla collaborazione di Tommy con il marchio americano G.H. Bass & Co: la collezione si concentra sulla calzatura preppy americana per eccellenza, il mocassino “Weejuns” del 1936 che è stato personalizzato con il pattern di 10 Corso Como.Infine, Tommy Hilfiger, da poco entrato nel Consiglio d’Amministrazione di Belstaff, ha deciso di omaggiare la città di Milano mettendo in mostra a Palazzo Reale, direttamente dalla sua collezione privata, una delle poche opere realizzate a quattro mani da Basquiat e Warhol.
