Emilia Romagna
tasted@ L’Osteria dell’Orsa, via Mentana 1, Bologna (Bo)
Ragoût passing through Emilia Romagna, could not have stopped to taste the real Bolognese ragout in Bologna! Arriving in Bologna at 15.30 we immediately went to a tavern which is open until the evening, constantly churning out tagliatelle, spaghetti, crescentin, etc. L’Osteria dell’Orsa (The Bear Tavern), located in the University area, is a well known place in town because the food, fast service(despite the constant queue outside the room) and super honest prices. The walls are empty, no pictures, but the spartan room is warmed by good food and wine that are served. My wish has come true here: tagliatelle with ragout..the real ones. Tagliatelle, needless to say, melt in your mouth and have an exaggerated amount of ragout. The red wine is a “mixed grapes” as said the waiter, and is surprisingly good. Last but not least a cup of mascarpone with berries in syrup. Delizia.
If you go to Bologna and have luch at Osteria dell’Orsa, go to Ferrramenta (Hardware shop) at 16, Via delle Moline. Ferramenta is one of the best concept store of clothing I’ve ever seen in Italy, perhaps in Europe. Housed in a historic hardware shop, has preserved the beautiful counter and offers the best of international trends. Deserves to drop by. Paolo advised me for meal “Il banco del vino” (“The counter of wine” )next to the Osteria dell’Orsa: they do a very thorough research on the wines and products they offer.
