Shapes of Things Ltd Kids è un brand di abbigliamento per bambini fondato con lo scopo di stimolare la loro immaginazione e ispirarli ad essere creativi: l’ho scoperto durante il Pitti Bimbo 79, nella sezione New View.

Shapes of Things Ltd Kids is a brand of children’s clothing founded with the purpose of stimulating their imaginations and inspire them to be creative: I found out during Pitti Bimbo 79 in the New View section.

Fondato a Glasgow dallo stilista britannico Jamie Bruski Tetsill, il brand ha lanciato la sua prima collezione (intitolata “The Power of Geometry“) durante la 79esima edizione di Pitti Bimbo. Ma la storia di questo brand va più lontano del giugno 2014: già da bambino Jamie aveva una vera e propria passione per l’arte, le costruzioni, i giochi di assemblaggio ed era solito creare ambienti personalizzati e colorati nella sua cameretta. Questa sua passione per l’arte, i materiali e le costruzioni si è trasferita da adulto nei suoi capi, accessori e pezzi di arredo d’interni.

Founded in Glasgow by British designer Jamie Bruski Tetsill, the brand has launched its first collection (entitled “The Power of Geometry“) during the 79th edition of Pitti Bimbo. But the history of this brand goes farther than June 2014: as a child, Jamie had a real passion for art, construction, and assembly games, he used to create custom and colorful environments in his bedroom. As adult his passion for art, materials and construction moved in his garments, accessories and pieces of interior design.

“Quando creo un capo, cerco di immaginare chi diventerà un giorno il bambino o la bambina che lo indosserà – architetto, artista, vignettista, critico, pioniere digitale, regista, musicista, pittore, fotografo o stilista? Chiunque sceglierà di essere, spero che provi l’emozione e la gioia che solo la creatività possono dare” afferma Tetsill, ripensando certamente anche alla propria infanzia.

“When I create a garment, I try to imagine who the boy or girl who will wear it will become one day - architect, artist, cartoonist, critic, digital pioneer, director, musician, painter, photographer or designer? Anyone who chooses to be, I hope he will feel the excitement and joy that only creativity can provide” says Tetsill, thinking certainly to his own childhood.

La collezione comprende giacche casual, shorts, pantaloni, felpe con e senza cappuccio e T-shirt. Tutti i capi sono caratterizzati da accattivanti motivi geometrici in vinile, in colori fluo e texture olografiche oltre a surreali ma divertenti tasche rappresentanti figure geometriche. Queste forme hanno un intento artistico e didattico e promuovono il potere dinamico e unificante della geometria. Tutti i capi sono interamente realizzati nel Regno Unito con cotone biologico prodotto in modo etico.

The collection includes casual jackets, shorts, pants, sweatshirts, jackets and T-shirts. All garments are characterized by eye-catching patterns in vinyl, fluorescent colors and holographic textures as well as surreal but fun with pockets representatives geometric figures. These forms have an artistic and teaching intent and promote the power dynamic and unifying of geometry. All garments are made entirely in the UK with organic cotton produced in an ethical manner.

Tetsill ha inoltre iniziato a sviluppare eventi con enti benefici organizzando progetti e laboratori di terapeutica artistica per bambini in difficoltà. Ogni collezione Shapes of Things viene quindi accompagnata da un evento unico organizzato in collaborazione con un ente benefico diverso, che possa educare, ispirare ed aiutare i bambini più svantaggiati.

Tetsill has also started to develop events with charities by organizing projects and therapeutic art workshops for children in need. Each Shapes of Things’ collection is then accompanied by a unique event, organized in collaboration with different charity that can educate, inspire and help the most disadvantaged children.

Dopo il Pitti Bimbo, Shapes of Things Ltd Kids celebrerà lo sport, la salute e la moda con workshop dedicati e un pop up store durante i Giochi del Commonwealth a Glasgow, in Scozia dal 23 luglio al 3 agosto 2014.

After Pitti Bimbo, Shapes of Things Ltd Kids will celebrate sports, health and fashion with workshops and a pop-up store during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23rd to August 3rd, 2014.
