Oggi voglio parlarvi di quello che per me è stato il brand rivelazione del Pitti Bimbo: Karen Brost London. Sarò sincera: non conoscevo questo brand. E sarò altrettanto sincera nel dirvi che questa nuova scoperta mi ha stupito: anzitutto la gentilezza e simpatica personalità di Karen, la designer e titolare, e di Jaime, la sales director.

Today I want to talk to you about the brand that for me was the revelation of Pitti Bimbo: Karen Brost London. I’ll be honest: I did not know this brand. And I’ll be more sincere in telling you that this new discovery surprised me: first of all the kindness and sympathetic personality of Karen, the designer and owner, and Jaime, the sales director.

Chi è Karen Brost? Karen ha avuto il piacere di essere una designer per oltre 20 anni. Ha lavorato per alcuni dei più importanti marchi di moda in America, tra cui Hugo Boss e Donna Karan. Ha lanciato Karen Brost London all’inizio del 2008 dopo aver lasciato l’America per mettere su famiglia a Londra. Karen ricorda “Dopo aver avuto la mia prima bambina lentamente mi sono innamorata di tutto ciò che è mistico e magico. Ho cominciato a usare i ritagli di tempo dell’essere mamma per disegnare schizzi di piccoli personaggi e idee che ho pensato che sarebbero piaciute a mia figlia, così come a me“. Ed è iniziata l’avventura. Oggi Karen Brost London è disponibile in store esclusivi come Liberty of London, Selfridges, Brown Thomas, Alex and Alexa e Fred Segal.

Who is Karen Brost? Karen has had the pleasure of being a designer for over 20 years. She has worked for some of America’s top fashion brands including Hugo Boss and Donna Karan. She launched Karen Brost London in early 2008 after moving from America and starting a family in London. Karen recalls, “After having my first little girl a few years back I slowly became enchanted, as you do, with all things mystical and magical. I began to use my spare bits of mummy time sketching little characters and ideas that I thought would appeal to my daughter, as well as myself.” Brost’s unconventional formula for her new children’s range has caught the eye of some of the world’s most exclusive retailers and is currently being stocked by Liberty of London, Selfridges, Brown Thomas, Alex and Alexa and Fred Segal.

Ed ora dovete vedere assolutamente questo video: al minuto 0.58 mi è venuto un nodo alla gola, mi sono riconosciuta nella mamma che lavora e che prende in braccio la bimba… chissà quanti fogli avrà scarabocchiato, proprio come la mia Sissi!

Al Pitti Bimbo ho scoperto che dalla prossima stagione la collezione si allarga a coprire le due fasce d’età: baby (0-24 mesi) e kids (2-8 anni)! La collezione P/E 2015 è intitolata “Monochromaniacs” ed trae ispirazione de tutto ciò che è magico, ipnotizzante ed anche un po’ birichino. La collezione, interamente Made in England ed in cotone bio certificato GOTS, si basa sul bianco e nero con accenti di oro metallizzato: Karen ha disegnato questa collezione mentre era in attesa della sua secondogenita e davvero si nota tutta l’energia vibrante ed il genio estroso tipico delle donne incinte!

At Pitti Bimbo I discovered that from next season the collection is extended to cover two age groups: baby (0-24 months) and kids (2-8 years old)! The spring/summer 2015 collection is entitled “Monochromaniacs” and draws inspiration from all that is magical, mesmerizing and mischievous. The collection, entirely made in England and GOTS certified organic cotton, is based on black and white with accents of metallic gold: Karen has designed this collection while she was waiting for her second child and you really notice all the vibrant energy and genius whimsical typical of pregnant women!

A mio parere, i pezzi più interessanti della collezione: le felpe in cotone estivo con le maniche bordate dorate, i giubbini stile baseball, le felpe con cappuccio – con o senza maniche -, i vestiti con il fiocco dorato e poi tutte le calze: calzamaglie, calzini corti, calzini lunghi… date uno sguardo a questo video, con tanti modelli indossati: ve ne innamorerete!

In my opinion, the most interesting pieces in the collection: summer cotton sweatshirts with the sleeves edged in gold, the baseball jackets, hoodies - with or without sleeves -, the dresses with the with golden bow and then all the socks: tights, short socks, knee socks… take a look at this video, with many models worn: you’ll love it!
